Biography

Dr. Mahmoud A. Shawky received his B.Sc. (Hons.) from the Air Defence College at Alexandria University and his M.Sc. in Authentication Mechanisms in Computer Network Protocols. He earned his Ph.D. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, where he previously served as a Teaching and Research Assistant and currently works as a Researcher at the James Watt School of Engineering. His research interests include cryptography, digital signatures, physical layer security, wireless authentication, and cybersecurity. Dr. Shawky has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious venues such as Nature Communications Engineering and IEEE Transactions. He has chaired sessions at major IEEE conferences including VTC-Fall 2022 and WCNC 2023 and serves as an executive officer for the IEEE Student Branch at Glasgow. He is an Associate Editor for the IECE Transactions on Information Security and Cryptography and regularly reviews for top IEEE journals. He is also actively involved in Open-RAN and sustainability projects focused on energy-efficient systems.
