Biography

Matthew Sutherland is a Lecturer in Teacher Education within the School of Education. Matthew has a strong interest in addressing social inequalities in education. His ESRC funded PhD critically explores the narrowing of the secondary school curriculum and its impact on subject choices, qualifications, and the attainment of young people in Scotland.

Before becoming a lecturer Matthew worked in primary and secondary schools as a Physical Education teacher
