I am a Lecturer in Teacher Education, where I lead the implementation of Film and Screen Education across our undergraduate and postgraduate provision. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, I am also a practising fine artist, specialising in photography, print, and moving image. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Fulbirght Teaching Fellow. 

I have over a decade of experience in arts education, having worked across both state and independent primary and secondary schools in roles including Principal Teacher, Regent, and Associate Tutor.

My teaching and research are shaped by a strong commitment to creativity, social justice, and inclusion. I am particularly interested in arts education through the medium of film, and in how this can support learners to explore identity, community, and culture. More broadly, I am interested in how the expressive arts can amplify pupil voice, nurture flourishing through the arts, and create space for critical engagement with issues of equity and participation in education.

My recent scholarship explores the role of the expressive arts (including visual art, photography, film, and screen education) in engaging with questions of social justice and inclusion in education. I am particularly interested in how creative pedagogies can amplify pupil voice and support young people to articulate the issues that matter most to them. 

I am currently developing research on the role of the third sector and partnership working in the expressive arts to support arts education in Scottish school settings, particularly in Glasgow. I am especially interested in how such partnerships can strengthen arts education in ways that directly benefit schools and young people in traditionally underserved communities. I also have a related interest in inclusive education, particularly LGBT+ inclusion and equity across school and teacher education contexts.
