Biography

Christine joined the University of Glasgow in November 2016 in the role as Lecturer in Modern Languages Teacher Education.  After achieving a First Class degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Strathclyde, Christine completed her PhD at the University of Hull.  During this time she taught Spanish language, culture and literature to undergraduates. Following this she completed her PGCE in Modern Languages and took up her first teaching position.   Christine spent 10 years teaching French and Spanish in secondary schools then a further year working in support for learning in a primary school. She undertook several roles including Assistant Head of Department, Primary Languages Coordinator and Advanced Skills Teacher.  The latter involved training colleagues in pedagogy both on a departmental and whole school level.  Christine was also a Regional Coordinator for a Strategic Learning Network of Modern Languages Teachers across her Local Authority.  She was also trained to be an Advanced Mentor and Coach for trainee teachers and this involved developing systems and providing training for trainees in a number of different disciplines.

Supervision

Christine supervises a number of Masters students in the School of Education.

Teaching

Christine teaches across the Master of Education with Teaching Qualification (Primary)(MEduc) and the PGDE primary and secondary programmes.  She is currently the joint Programme Leader for the MEduc.
