Semester 2 information for postgarduate students

Happy New Year! We hope you had a lovely break and were able to take some well-earned rest.

We are looking forward to the start of Semester 2 on Monday 10th January and wanted to get in touch with you regarding teaching arrangements. As a School we have considered the current Omicron situation and have taken the decision to move some of the Semester 2 teaching online for the first 2 weeks, which will be communicated by your programme team. The rest of our classes will continue as currently timetabled. We will continually review this position and will keep you informed.

We still intend to offer on-campus teaching when it is safe to do so. However, where any student is unable to come to Glasgow, we will continue to support online study for the remainder of the session.

If you are an international student and will be unable to come to the UK to complete study in Academic Year 2021-22, you do not require a UK Student Visa. If we have issued you with a CAS, we will withdraw this document on the UKVI system within 10 days of the latest arrival date shown on the document. Withdrawal of this document will not impact any future Visa applications that you wish to make in the UK. If you did not apply for a Student Visa, you will not be required to declare the issuance of your UofG 2021-22 CAS in any future Visa applications.

If you have applied for a Student Visa, it will be invalidated and you must not use this to travel to the UK. You should declare this Visa in future Visa applications.

If you still intend to travel to the UK but will not be able to arrive before the latest arrival date shown on your CAS, please contact your programme administrator to request an extension. You should inform them of your anticipated date of arrival which must be before 6th April 2022. For information or guidance on UK Student Visas, please refer to the International Student Support Team’s web pages.

We would also recommend referring to the University’s web pages on Coronavirus for up-to-date information on the situation as it evolves.
