School of Education

In commemoration of International Women's Day, the Guatemalan Ministry of Labor recognizes the work of outstanding women in the country each year, across government, industry, academia, and public and private services.

Institutions nominate their candidates, and a committee within the Ministry selects the award recipients. Career path, education, and leadership are among the most important factors considered. This year, 27 women were honored.

Magda was nominated by the Rafael Landivar University for her work in the Institute of Sociohumanist Sciences in recognition of her research and creative work in the fields of culture and art. The award was presented by the President of the Republic of Guatemala, Dr. Bernardo Arévalo, at a ceremony held in the National Palace of Culture.
