SoE Associate Tutor Dustin Hosseini named as a Jisc Community Champion 2026
We are delighted that Dustin Hosseini, Associate Tutor in the School of Education, has been named as a Jisc Community Champion 2026, celebrating individuals across the Further and Higher Education sectors who make an outstanding contribution across the digital learning community. Dustin has been awarded under the community innovator category, which recognises individuals who are at the forefront of change as early adopters who help open new lines of activity or thought.
Jisc is a United Kingdom not-for-profit membership organisation that provides network and IT services and digital resources in support of further and higher education and research, as well as the public sector. The Jisc Community Champions Programme recognises individuals who facilitate community connections through digital innovation and knowledge sharing.
Dustin’s recognition reflects his impact within and beyond the University. As an AI Champion, Dustin has supported institutional developments in the thoughtful use of Generative AI across the University. His initial experimentations with generative AI began in 2023 where he explored applications of GenAI in education practice, and subsequently looked into the problematic illustration of what GenAI tools create at the intersections of racialised gender, race, ethnicity. Through experimentation and collaboration, Dustin's collaborative project was subsequently recognised with the ALDinHE 2024 LearnHigher Resource of the Year Award in 2024. Later in October 2025, Dustin was the co-winner of the 2025 ALT Award for Case Studies in Ethical Edtech for 'Navigating Bias: Unravelling the Ethical Complexities of Generative AI in Race and Gender’.
The achievements of the Jisc Community Champions 2026 will be celebrated at DigiFest in Birmingham from 10-11 March.
