SoE lecturer Dr Sihui Wang has won the 2025 Estelle Brisard Memorial Prize, given annually to an early career researcher for excellence and promise in their work.

The prize is awarded by the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) to the best research paper written by an early-career researcher based in Scotland. It is presented annually at the SERA conference, which took place from 19 to 21 November.

The announcement from SERA commented:

"Sihui’s winning entry, 'Flexible Pedagogies in Practice: How University Teachers Shape International Students’ Classroom Participation in UK Higher Education' stood out for its insight and contribution to current conversations about inclusion in Higher Education. Everyone at SERA sends their warmest congratulations. A wonderful achievement!"

The award consists of a certificate, a cash prize of £250, conference fee and attendance at the conference dinner. The winner of the prize will be encouraged to present the paper at the SERA conference in the following year and to submit it for consideration by the Scottish Educational Review.
