Dental Student in Pipe Band Victory

Second Year student Lewis Olsson enjoyed victory on both days of the Costa Mesa “Scotfest” pipe band competition in California, USA as part of the winning Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band.
Lewis Olsson, a second year Glasgow dental student, took part in the Costa Mesa "Scotsfest" which was held on the 24th and 25th May 2014, about 45 minutes south of Los Angeles. He is a member of the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band, which competed on both days of the event and won first place on each day. The competition included a number of top American pipe bands. Lewis said “Highland games are, surprisingly, very popular in the States, and the American spectators are a lot more lively than a Scottish crowd”.
In addition to his band’s success in California, Lewis also came third in the DPL Dental Students Got Talent Competition with a piping entry and netted a cheque for £250.
