Scottish Literature is pleased to announce that the following Postgraduate scholarships and bursaries are available for students undertaking a research degree in the academic term 2024/25.
Students must have completed the formal application process to study at the University, before they apply for the scholarships:

The Centre for Robert Burns Studies Shaw Scholarship  -  Up to £5000:

For students to undertake MPhil research on any aspect of Robert Burns Studies at the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, University of Glasgow. Please contact robertburnsstudies@glasgow.ac.uk if you'd like to discuss the suitability of a particular topic. New or continuing postgraduate students at the University of Glasgow are eligible to apply for these awards.

 

The Edwin Morgan Scholarship for Research in Scottish Literature - Up to £5000

Applications are invited from new or continuing Postgraduate Research students enrolled in the Scottish Literature subject area. There is no specific criteria pertaining to research topic or period.

 

The Joanna Baillie Scholarship for Research in Scottish Literature - Up to £5000

Applications are invited from new or continuing Postgraduate Research students enrolled in the Scottish Literature subject area. There is no specific criteria pertaining to research topic or period.

 

The Colonel Sir Walter Scott Scholarship - £1000:

Applications are invited from new or continuing Postgraduate Research students enrolled in the Scottish Literature subject area. There is no specific criteria pertaining to research topic or period.

 

Tannahill Bursaries - Up to £500 (at least 2 available)

Applications are invited from new or continuing enrolled Postgraduate Research students in the Scottish Literature subject area. These are intended for specified research activities (eg. travel to archives/conferences, digitisation etc.) and a breakdown of costs, up to a maximum of £500, should be submitted with your application. - Andrew Tannahill Fund
