PhD Students

Hollie Miller (3rd Year)

After completing an Honours degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Glasgow, Hollie went on to complete her M(Res) degree working with Dr David France at the University on the development and synthesis of PROTACs to target the mutant p53 protein. Hollie is now working towards her PhD in the Prunet group on the development of novel cationic polymers for the use in DNA transfection.

Maxim Nogai (2nd year)

Maxim completed his MSci in Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. In his final year he worked in the group of Dr Mattia Silvi on photoredox functionalisation of alcohols. He joined the Prunet group in 2024 to work on the development of novel degradable polymers with defined geometries.

Project Students

Gabriel Valencia Sandu

Gabriel Valencia Sandu is a 5th year undergraduate student part of the integrated masters (MSci) programme at the University of Glasgow in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry. He did his academic placement year at Columbia University, NY, within the Cornish laboratory under the supervision of Professor Virginia Cornish. His project involved working on the optimisation of yeast biosensors for the detection of low dose ionizing radiation and was part of a collaborative multi-PI project. He is now doing his final year project under the supervision of Dr Joëlle Prunet, working on the synthesis of more complex polycycloethers from Divinyl Polyethylene glycol (PEG) with ladder-like structures and potential applications in membrane gas separation. 

Cameron Hewitt

Cameron started his undergraduate programme in 2022. He was originally studying Pharmacology but changed to studying Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry. After completing his first three years he began working with the Prunet group for his research project. The topic concerns itself with the synthesis of polyester based single-chain nanoparticles.
