World cinema; film theory; transcultural aspects of cinema; travelling, displacement and movement in film; film and cosmopolitanism; film aesthetics; Greek culture & cinema.

Biography

Beginning his academic life as a student of Physics at the University of Athens Dimitris became a member of the University’s filmmaking group. He then studied Film and Literature at the University of Warwick graduating with a BA(Hons) in 1985. He completed his PhD on New Technologies in Film and Television at the John Logie Baird Centre (Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde). He held academic appointments at Athens and Liverpool before taking up his current post at Glasgow in 1997.

Dimitris is an Editor of Screen and of the Journal of Greek Media and Culture.
