COP26 and The Dear Green Bothy

Professor Mark Banks was the academic lead for the College of Arts’ interdisciplinary cultural programme ‘The Dear Green Bothy’, which began in June and runs until the end of December. The project has presented over 50 different public events that have partnered academic researchers with artists and members of diverse publics and communities, all working together to showcase how arts and cultural understandings are vital to tackling climate change.
Mark wrote a short piece on the arts and COP26 for The Herald Agenda: The art of living after COP26 | HeraldScotland and a longer piece for The Scotsman COP26: Marvin Gaye's album What's Going On has lessons for the fight against climate change 50 years after its release – Professor Mark Banks | The Scotsman on the role of black music in ecological politics, as part of a Bothy event he organised celebrating the music and politics of Marvin Gaye.
