The seminar ‘Arts Policy and National Identity in Scotland: Past and Future’ marked the conclusion of a CCPR project investigating the history of the Scottish Arts Council, supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (view NI Seminar timetable and NI Seminar participants). CCPR welcomed speakers including Peter Duelund (Director of the Nordic Cultural Institute) and Professor Michael Keating (Aberdeen University). The invitation only seminar brought together arts practitioners, policymakers and academics for a lively discussion about national identity and the role of institutions. Findings from the Scottish Arts Council research informed a wider discussion about national identity in contemporary cultural policy focusing on the future role of Creative Scotland.
