Find A Solution Internships
The scca.partnerships project has joined forces with UofG Careers, Employability & Opportunities on the Find A Solution paid internship programme, promoting the opportunity to SCCA partners and funding additional internships for SCCA partner organisations and students.
The Find A Solution programme works with local third sector, community-based organisations to develop project-based, paid internships to be carried out by UofG students that address issues of strategic importance and have a lasting impact for the organisation.
2025 Internships
Impact Arts
Established in 1994, Impact Arts is an award winning Scottish arts charity whose mission is to tackle inequalities in Scotland through different forms of creativity, including visual arts, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, film making, animation, performance, creative writing and music.
As Audience Development Intern student Eva Casey (MA English Literature and Philosophy) led on an Audience Development project for Impact Arts’ Merchant City-based creative hub, The Boardwalk. The aim is to increase customers to The Boardwalk to ensure this social enterprise becomes profitable and supports Impact Arts to transform the lives of more people living with the effects of poverty through their creative projects. With significant scope to increase room bookings and events during the evenings and weekends identified, Eva worked closely with the Impact Arts Communications & Marketing Coordinator and Events Manager to design and begin implementing an Audience Development Plan.
Scottish Music Industry Association
SMIA exists to strengthen, empower and unite and to create and nurture a diverse, accessible, and inclusive membership community that reflects the full spectrum of Scotland’s music industry.
As Project Intern, student Gwenllian Matthews (MSc Modern History) worked with SMIA on their 2025 flagship events supporting the development of Scotland's music industry, the SMIA Summit and the SAY Award. This internship offered Gwen the opportunity to work on strategic national projects focused on developing Scotland's music industry and to gain invaluable experience delivering high-profile events.
Scottish Contemporary Art Network
SCAN is a member-led network committed to championing and supporting the contemporary art sector in Scotland with 300 organisational and individual members from across Scotland.
As Research Intern student Lareina Yin (MSc Creative Industries and Cultural Policy) worked with SCAN on their research and development in the Highlands of Scotland to understand the grassroots networks of contemporary art practitioners in the region, and the specific ways in which they evolve and work in order to better serve them.
2024 Internships
The Common Guild
scca.partnerships funded The Common Guild’s Library Project Internship through the Find A Solution programme.
The Common Guild is a visual arts organisation based in Glasgow, with a varied public programme of exhibitions, projects and events. They work closely with artists to realise ambitious new works in different formats and for diverse places, supported by talks and commissioned writing.
The Alasdair Gray Archive
scca.partnerships funded The Alasdair Gray Archive’s Graphic Design/Content Creation Internship through the Find A Solution programme.
The Alasdair Gray Archive is a free, public resource which was established in March 2020 after writer and artist Alasdair Gray’s death in late 2019. The Alasdair Gray Archive holds the collection of original visual artworks, sketches and drawings which are held at the Archive for research and learning purposes. The Archive also houses all Gray’s original prints, a restaging of his working studio set up and a section of his personal library.
