Biography
I joined SCMH in 2014 as Senior Clinical Research Manager and was appointed Head of Clinical Trials for the Heart Failure Group in 2021. In this role, I lead a team of eight staff supporting the BHF CoRE and Heart Failure Group clinical trials portfolio of CTIMPS and medical device trials, as well as observational, translational and precision medicine studies. In supporting this diverse clinical portfolio from cradle to grave, my role involves building and maintaining funder and sponsor relationships, navigating regulatory approvals and ensuring trial sites open and are subsequently supported. I am also responsible for managing multiple multi-million pound budgets and responding rapidly to changes in order to ensure successful delivery of our clinical studies.
In addition to my role as Head of Clinical Trials for the Heart Failure Group, I am a member of MVLS Ethics Committee and Chair of West of Scotland Research Ethics Committee 1 wherein I am instrumental in protecting the rights, safety, dignity and well-being of research participants and facilitating and promoting ethical research that is of potential benefit to participants, science and society. I am also currently undertaking a Masters of Laws degree in Medical Law and Ethics at the University of Edinburgh.
