Research Strategy
The SCMH 2035 Plan sets out the proposed core principles that will guide the research strategy of the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health (SCMH). It is intended to support discussion, prioritisation, and planning as the school positions itself for continued excellence and impact in cardiovascular and metabolic science.
It aligns with MVLS and University of Glasgow priorities in research culture, open science, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration, and will promote SCMH’s role in delivering the University’s Strategy through world-class, societally relevant research.

Revamp and refresh our internal seminar programme.

In collaboration with Director of Education, run an annual workshop to support grade 7 & 8 staff and clinical academics in training to develop UG & PGT projects.

Refresh the guest lecture programme prioritising seminars by high profile research leaders.

Weekly funding bulletin shared with the school.

Convene operations committee to oversee allocation of internal resources and key infrastructure support.

Create a database of infrastructure requirements in consultation with theme leads.

Create a database of successful funding applications, research culture & environment statements to support discovery science and clinical funding applications.
