CRUK RadNet Glasgow Centre

We are delighted to report that many CRUK RadNet Glasgow+ members supported and contributed to this year’s ESTRO, the annual congress of the European Society for Radiotherapy & Oncology.  Under the theme “Innovating Radiation Oncology, Together”, ESTRO 2026 took place in Stockholm with a record number of close to 9000 registered participants and over 4000 abstracts submitted.

As members of the scientific advisory groups, ESTRO school faculty and ESTRO focus groups, CRUK RadNet Glasgow+ members and associates, Aileen Duffton, Conchita Vens, Aoife Williamson and Anthony Chalmers continued to contribute to conference organisation, pre-meeting courses and symposia. 

 

Scientific contributions from CRUK RadNet Glasgow+ member and associates covered:

  • ‘Targeting NAD metabolism to overcome treatment resistance in glioblastoma’ – Anthony Chalmers; symposium talk within ‘Metabolism and mitochondria in the spotlight’ session of the radiobiology track on Saturday.
  • ‘Developing a preclinical mouse model to study image-guided stereotactic ablative radiotherapy and systemic treatment ‘- Katrina Stevenson, poster presentation radiobiology track
  • ‘Building on foundations: Taking radiation therapist research to the next level.’ - Aileen Duffton; Sunday morning teaching lecture of the RTT track
  • ‘Towards maximizing treatment success through microbiota modulation’- Anne Kiltie; symposium talk within ‘Focus on microbiota: Towards maximising treatment success’ session of the radiobiology track.
  • ‘OPRA’ - Campbell Roxburgh; talk at ‘Battle of the rectal trials: One case, four strategies,’ debate within the clinical track on Monday morning
  • ‘Impact of RTT research and what matters to the patient’ - Lynsey Devlin in ‘Innovations in patient centred-care’ symposium session of the RTT track
  • ‘When is radiobiology evidence good enough to guide treatment?’ - Conchita Vens; symposium talk within ‘When is treatment good enough’ session of the interdisciplinary track on Tuesday morning
