University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

During the accreditation process conducted by AMBA, members of the accreditation panel, representing senior management from globally accredited business schools, commended the business school’s new building , which the panel thought would greatly benefit the MBA participants. They also thought this new building would provide space for future MBA growth and the opportunity to be innovative and collaborate with other University departments.

The panel also noted the school’s strong connections with industry which they were able to utilise to create opportunities for projects for MBA students either for their consultancy week group project or their final MBA project.

Finally, the students and alumni were complementary of the school culture, as were employers who commented that the staff are open, inclusive, and people oriented.

Professor Eleanor Shaw, Head of the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the School. We are delighted to receive from AMBA, continuing recognition on the quality of our MBA programme. This reaccreditation is testimony to our position as a leading international business school and our commitment to excellent standards of research and impact, education and student experience. We will continue to build on this success through our commitment to providing engaging, entrepreneurial and enlightened education which inspires our MBA participants and helps develop them as global citizens committed to changing the world around them for the better.”

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: “Congratulations to Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow for this incredible achievement. Only 2% of business schools globally are accredited by AMBA and this historic and quality institution deserves to be in this exclusive group. I look forward to continuing to work closely with this business school.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.
