Bridge and building at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

In September 2022, we welcomed another prestigious partner to our global partnership community, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta). The establishment of this new partnership signifies the School’s commitment to developing and deepening relationships with India, a key strategic market to both the School and the University.

As agreed through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Adam Smith Business School and IIM Calcutta will work closely in the next three years to facilitate student and staff exchange, conduct collaborative research projects, lectures, and symposia, and explore other collaboration opportunities to enhance student experience and degree programmes.

The success of this partnership will help:

  • enhance the School's reputation and visibility in India
  • contribute to the intellectual development of our students and staff and to scholarship
  • enhance student experience, and
  • develop opportunities for School’s programme portfolios, including master and professional education programmes.

As one of the top three Indian Institutes of Management in India, IIM Calcutta enjoys its national and international rankings. It holds the 3rd position in top management colleges of the country. Worldwide, it was ranked 76th by the QS Global MBA Rankings 2022, 68th by the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2022, and 59th by the Financial Times Executive Education (Open Programme) Rankings 2022.

The vision of the Institute is to emerge as an International Centre of Excellence in all facets of Management Education, rooted in Indian ethos and societal values. Over the past four decades, IIM Calcutta has blossomed into one of Asia's finest Business Schools. Its strong ties to the business community make it an effective mechanism for the promotion of professional management practices in Indian organisations.
