Join us on 21 October!

The focal point of this week long exhibition will take place on Wednesday 21 October, when exhibitors, colleagues and support services will come together for an afternoon of discussion, networking and knowledge exchange. The event will be formally opened at 13:30 by Professor Jo Gill, Gender Champion, and will feature guest speakers alongside opportunities to meet researchers and practitioners working across the fields of menopause and menstrual health.

Unlike a traditional exhibition, attendees will have the chance to engage directly with exhibitors, ask questions about their research and practice, learn about emerging developments in the field, and explore potential opportunities for collaboration. Whether you are a researcher, professional services colleague, manager, student, or someone with a personal interest in the topic, the event offers a welcoming space to learn, connect and share experiences.

Alongside the research exhibition, colleagues from Occupational Health, People & Organisational Development, and the Peer Support Hub will be available throughout the event to discuss the support, resources and workplace adjustments available within the University community.

The event is free. Lunch will also be provided.

Meet the Speakers

Jo Gill is Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Arts & Humanities, and Professor of Twentieth-Century and American Literature. She joined the University of Glasgow in August 2022 from the University of Exeter where she served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the College of Humanities. Recently appointed as the University's Gender Champion she chairs the University's Gender Equality Group whose team developed the University's Bronze Award application for Athena Swan and oversees the implementation of the associated Action Plan.

Kathleen Riach is Professor of Organisation Studies at University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School. For the past 20 years, her research has explored the lived, bodily experience of inequality and work across the life course. This has focused on occupational health and wellbeing and ageing as economic and cultural phenomena and how women and underrepresented groups navigate different forms of inequality across their careers. Kat’s pioneering research of menopause at work is globally recognised. In 2019, she launched MIPO, one of the world’s first online free resources to help manager support menopause in the workplace. In 2024, Kat became chair for the recently launched ISO Standard on Menopause, Menstruation and Menstrual Health in the Workplace, having previously been on the advisory board for the BSI guidelines on the same title.

Anna McGowan (Music), Reilly Gardner (Human Biology) and Sakshi Bangari (Human Biology and Physiology) bring together complementary expertise spanning the arts, biological sciences, neuroscience and women’s health. Inspired by discussions in the Knowledge and Creativity course, particularly the Hills and Bird model of creativity, the team became interested in how imagination can transform lived experiences into creative expression.
