"Having worked directly in international trade, I developed a strong interest in global commerce that led me to pursue an MSc in International Business, where my dissertation focused on financial crime in global banking. This background paved the way for my career as a senior financial crime specialist, ultimately drawing me to Glasgow for its vibrant cultural scene and status as a major UK financial hub. Outside of work, I enjoy a creative and intentional lifestyle centred around traveling, exploring art galleries, baking, enjoying literature, and maintaining a focus on home cooking and wellness."

How has your degree helped you in your career?

Having worked in international trade, pursuing an MSc in International Business allowed me to elevate my practical experience into specialized expertise in financial crime prevention. The degree provided a comprehensive understanding of cross-border trade mechanics. Crucially, my dissertation on international trade financial crime in global banking allowed me to focus directly on how illicit networks exploit trade channels. This academic foundation strengthened my analytical rigor, risk assessment capability, and technical knowledge of international banking operations, enabling me to excel as a senior financial crime specialist conducting complex investigations and transaction monitoring.

What have you been up to since graduating from the Business School?

Since graduating from the Business School, I have channelled my MSc focus into a career as a senior financial crime specialist. My degree and dissertation provided the groundwork for my daily work in anti-money laundering, Enhanced Due Diligence, and detecting complex financial risks. The journey also brought me to Glasgow, where I’ve loved establishing myself in a vibrant UK financial and cultural hub. Outside of work, I’ve kept a strong creative balance in my life through baking, traveling, or giving back through local volunteering.

Tell us your fondest memory of the Business School

My fondest memory of the Business School was serving as a Peer Wellbeing Supporter. Being selected for the role and undergoing formal training was an incredibly rewarding experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally. Beyond the academic rigor of my degree, this opportunity allowed me to develop active listening, empathy, and meaningful connections with fellow students. Learning how to support others during challenging times not only strengthened our student community but also shaped how I approach communication, leadership, and human connection in every aspect of my life today.
