Biography

I am a lapsed taxonomist who worked on phylogenetic methods before deciding to tackle the challenge of integrating biodiversity data into a “knowledge graph”.  We are awash in biodiversity data, much of it isolated and lacking context. I’m interested in how we can link that data together. I record my progress (or lack thereof) on my blog, Twitter and elsewhere.

Research interests

Linking and enriching primary biodiversity data, such as taxonomic descriptions, specimens, and DNA sequences.

Knowledge graphs, linked data, and Wikidata.
