Shared Interest Groups

From image search and machine translation to self-driving cars, deep learning is a recent development in machine learning that has allowed a leap forward in computer vision and language tasks. Deep learning systems are taught rather than programmed, and have the ability to learn high level abstractions, both of which suggest exciting applications in science.  This talk will introduce the basic concepts underlying deep learning, show examples from MRI research at the Montreal Neurological Institute, and discuss possibilities for future development in medicine and biology.
