The Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy of Scotland (YAS) has announced the appointment of 51 new members.  The group, comprising 28 women and 23 men, represent some of the nation’s leading researchers, teachers, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and third sector workers.  They will join YAS’s existing members in realising its mission ‘to achieve transformative societal change through citizenship, innovation, collaboration, evidence, and leadership.’

We are absolutely delighted that two of our wider UNESCO team have been announced in the 2020 intake of new members:

Hyab Yohannes: Hyab is currently a PhD researcher and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Glasgow and holder of the UNESCO RILA PhD Scholarship. He worked formerly for local charities and international organisations in Egypt, including UNHCR, IOM, Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance (AMERA) and Saint Andrew’s Refugee Services (StARS). Hyab is involved in academic and non-academic professional roles in the UK.

Iman Tajik: is an Iranian artist and photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Tajik’s work is anchored in a strong social interest and demonstrates an effort to make work that is a critical tool connected to international movements for social change.

Congratulations Iman and Hyab!!
