Brochure for the 2018/19 Film Series is now available!
As we look back at another year of political and civil unrest, migration and acts of kindness, we remind ourselves of the importance of film to mobilise and inspire us, to reveal incredible stories and journeys behind the great moments in our history and our present. This year’s series focuses on this often arduous journey of overcoming difficulty through art, solidarity and storytelling.
As usual, there will be a variety of film forms and styles, from collaborative filmmaking to animation, from documentary essay to ethnographic film. These unique perspectives will be sources for inspiration, curiosity and change. Last but not least, the series aims to highlight the voices and creativity of women, both in front and behind the camera, which is why half of the feature films are made by female directors.
GRAMNet/BEMIS Film Series continues to be a space for showcasing emerging talent from all over the world and for broadening our views and experience of cinema. GRAMNet is very grateful for the generous support received from partners, sponsors, distributors and directors so that the film series can be kept free and open to all. This year the partnership is extended to include the UNESCO Chair for Refugee Integration through Languages and Arts at the University of Glasgow.
Join us at the Series Launch on Wednesday 3rd October for "Even When I Fall": the visual power of the circus gives a unique perspective into the way survivors of child trafficking reach new heights and a brighter future through reclaiming their past and transforming it into art.
Screenings are accompanied by forums and Q&A for everyone to share their views and thoughts in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The audience is warmly invited to congregate in the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) Cafe following each screening to continue our informal discussions.
*** Please note that due to the Glasgow School of Art fire, the CCA will not be open in October. The Series Launch on 3rd October will now take place in Andrew Stewart Cinema, Gilmorehill Halls, 9 University Avenue, University of Glasgow ***

Note: All screenings (apart from 3 Oct) take place at the Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts. Doors open at 5.45pm, for 6pm start.
