The UNESCO Chair is committed to helping PGR students gain valuable skills, by offering regular internships opportunities. On this page you will find an overview of the internships we have offered in the past and the interns we have worked with.

RUNNING INTERNSHIPS

We are working with Chantelle Boyle, who is the UNESCO RILA Spring School intern for 2024. Chantelle will be helping with promotion, notably on social media, and will be devising an evaluation strategy.

COMPLETED INTERNSHIPS

February - June 2023

We offered a College of Social Science PGR internship to organise, evaluate, facilitate and promote the launch of the first learning pack from our Sites Unseen project.

The intern we worked with was Dayana Balgabekova.

March - May 2022

This internship supported the evaluation and reporting of the fifth annual UNESCO Chair Spring School in Glasgow (May 2022). The main tasks were to organise and promote the Spring School, which included liaising with presenters and helping to manage the online participant registration process; to devise and execute an appropriate event evaluation strategy for presenters and participants; to facilitate at the event 11-13 May 2022; and to post to our social media account and blog.

The intern we worked with was Nikos Psochios.

October 2021 - October 2022

We offered a John Smith Centre Emerging Leader internship to support the University of Glasgow team with the New Scots Refugee Integration Delivery Project (2020-22). This project was led by the Scottish Government in partnership with COSLA, the Scottish Refugee Council and the UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts (UNESCO RILA), and promoted employability, education, health and social and cultural connections for refugees. Specifically the intern worked alongside the project Research Associate, Dr Dan Fisher and joint MRes students to produce briefing papers and other materials from their research for diverse audiences, to expand the reach and impact of the project. The intern proactively horizon scanned to identify opportunities where such research briefings could impact on policy or practice and seek to establish networks for dissemination.

February - May 2020

We offered an internship to help organise our annual UNESCO RILA Spring School. Just like in previous years, the main areas for our intern to develop their skills in were evaluation, organisation, communication and analysis.

The intern we worked with was Catrin Evans.

February - April 2019

We offered an internship to support the UNESCO Chair Arts hub Coordinator with development and facilitation of activities related to the UNESCO Chair Ambassadors & Affiliate Artists schemes. The intern worked as an active member of the project team and liaised with and built relationships with both internal and external project partners.

The intern we worked with was Erika Leigh Anderson.

February - June 2019

We offered an internship to help organise the UNESCO RILA Spring School: The Arts of Integrating 2020. The purpose of this internship was to assist the Internship Supervisor in the administration and delivery of the third annual UNESCO RILA Spring School in Glasgow (May 2020) and support the event evaluation.

The intern we worked with was Emily-Marie Pacheco.

February - June 2018

We offered an internship to help organise the UNESCO RILA Spring School: The Arts of Integrating 2020. The purpose of this internship was to assist the Internship Supervisor in the administration and delivery of the third annual UNESCO RILA Spring School in Glasgow (May 2020) and support the event evaluation.
