International Workshop on Synthetic Approach to Origin of Life

The essential properties of life would not be understood merely by studying "life-as-we-know-it" (i.e. existing life forms), rather it requires constructing various forms of "life-as-it-could-be". In the context of origin of life, constructing various forms of artificial cell-like systems mimicking the primitive life will give us significant insights into what are the essential requirements for the origin of life. Towards this goal, a multi-disciplinary approach is inevitable because construction of cell mimicry is not only biological challenges, but also physical, chemical, and engineering challenges.
This workshop will bring together and facilitate exchanges between origin of life researchers from various fields through the discussion about “Universal Understanding of Cellular Life” and “What fundamental principles explain the emergence of life?”
