Emilie Combet
Emilie is a Professor of Nutrition at the University of Glasgow in the School of Medicine, with expertise in nutrition and the lifecycle, focusing on health trajectories, food systems, and sustainability/equity. Her research adopts a multidisciplinary perspective, studying how food and diets impact health from peri-conception to old age, with particular interest in the "farm to fork to society" nexus across community, industry, and clinical settings. Since 2023, she has served as Director of the Scottish Alliance for Food (SCAF), one of four Alliances for Research Challenges funded by the Scottish Funding Council, where she explores how transdisciplinary research can address complex food system challenges through the lenses of health, sustainability, and equity.
Through SCAF, I've met unlikely collaborators, learnt a lot, connected dots that were not obvious, and participated in transformative conversations and project designs. Founding SCAF in 2023 was about strengthening the connective tissue linking disciplines that can make a meaningful contribution to food futures, beyond sector and disciplinary siloes. Seeing how we've brought together such a diverse and inclusive membership to work across boundaries has been deeply rewarding.
