UofG Centre for Public Policy

1 June 2026: Centre for Public Policy Senior Lecturer Dr Ian C. Elliott has been appointed to the Cabinet Office’s Government Skills College of Experts, to share his expertise in public administration and inform the work of the directorate.

Dr Ian C. Elliott, leading expert in the strategic state, mission-led government and the teaching of public administration, has been appointed to the Government Skills College of Experts.

The College of Experts will support Government Skills, a directorate based in the UK Government’s Cabinet Office, to ensure it is considering the highest-quality research and evidence when informing its work.

The UK Government says the College will increase Government Skills’ access to academic networks, broaden its evidence base, and strengthen knowledge exchange across government and academia.

Ian joins 24 academics and expert practitioners affiliated with universities and institutions across the UK also appointed to the College.

Dr Ian C. Elliott, Senior Lecturer in Public Administration at the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Public Policy, said:

"I am delighted to be appointed a member of the Government Skills College of Experts. The Centre for Public Policy is where evidence meets practice, and I look forward to using my own research and teaching experience to make a positive impact on the future development of Government Skills including the National School for Government and Public Service."

The college will allow Government Skills to build long-term, ongoing and systematic relationships that provide easier access to scientific advice when needed.
