Research Software Engineers
The centre's Research Software Engineers support the University of Glasgow’s research community by applying digital and scientific expertise to deliver data-driven solutions that enable world-changing research.
Dr Thalia Rodriguez
Thalia Rodriguez is a Research Software Engineer at the University of Glasgow, specialising in the development of research software, data-driven solutions, and technical collaboration across academic and industry projects.
Previously, she worked as a Research Fellow in mathematical modelling, data fusion, and machine learning at the UK Dementia Research Institute / University of Surrey, where she developed multimodal data pipelines, machine learning models, analytics platforms, and reproducible MLOps workflows to support healthcare research and clinical decision-making.
She holds a PhD in Physics and is passionate about applying software and AI to solve complex research challenges.
Dr Daniela Ivanova
Dr Daniela Ivanova is a machine learning and computer vision researcher with a background in both academic research and software engineering. She obtained her PhD as part of the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, where she repurposed multimodal generative models to segment damage in digitised cultural heritage.
Since then, she has developed deep learning methods for fracture detection in 3D CT scans with the NHS, and for plankton and seabed imagery on the NERC DEAL project.
She is interested in applying her machine learning and computer vision expertise across disciplines, from creative practice, digital heritage, history and the humanities to bioinformatics, visual perception, ecology, and the natural sciences.
