Sharing Expertise, Shaping Policy

We believe that collaboration is key in helping us to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. The CVR is an active member of the following national consortia:

COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium (COG-UK)

ISARIC4C (Coronavirus Clinical Characterisation Consortium)

UK Coronavirus Immunology Consortium (UK CiC)

Genotype to Phenotype National Virology Consortium (G2P-UK)

CVR researchers have also been involved in a range of advisory groups, sharing their expertise and directly informing COVID-19 response policy. Examples include the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Post-Covid-19 Futures Commission, established to support Scotland in emerging from the pandemic, the Department of Health and Social Care’s Advisory Group for Serology Testing which advises on the effective deployment of testing nationally, and the UK Vaccine Taskforce Expert Advisory Group which advises on COVID-19 vaccine updates. Researchers have also given evidence to the Lords Science and Technology Committee for its ‘Science of COVID-19’ inquiry and contributed to multiple policy papers, including reports prepared for the UK Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies.
