This workshop has been organised by Dr Alexandra Smith, Division of European Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh. ‌The morning session on Russian Art of the 1910s-30s promises some interesting discussion on Modernist imagry, Kandinsky's books, 'Sound' and 'On the Spiritual in Art', Charchoune and trans-modernist painting.

The afternoon sessions will focus on the Avant-Garde Beyond Borders (e.g. Paris and USA) and the legacy of Avant-Garde in terms of language and image.

'Foule Immobile' is Charchoune's Dada poem for a 25 voice choir (the Sirens of Titan Choir, directed by Peter Shand). This will be preceded by a reception at 6pm for all workshop participants and attendees.
