Prior to submitting an application, please ensure you have read all the sections below.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • You must complete the Recruitment Form and upload it to the Research Proposal section of your application. Applications will not be considered without the Recruitment Form.
  • Applications for all projects must be submitted via the link 
  • CV is required and you should upload this to the document upload section of your application.
  • Applicants must apply to a specific project. Please ensure that you include details of project(s) that you are applying for on the Recruitment form.
  • You can apply for a maximum of 3 projects.

Project Q&A Session 

Supervisors of some of the projects will host a 30 minute Q&A session online.  The dates for the Q&A are still to be agreed for Glasgow and will be advertised on this webpage when available.

If you have any questions regarding the project you are interested in, we encourage you to attend.  Ahead of the meeting, a link to join will be found here along with the time of the meetings. 

All meetings will be held at GMT. If there isn't a Q&A option or you are not available to attend, we encourage you to contact the supervisors direct via the contact details made available. 

 

Interviews 

Interviews are likely to take place during February/March 2024. 

 

Recruitment

Glasgow based projects has an intake of up to ~8 fully-funded studentships per year. For full eligibility details, please view information available here.

Funding

The studentship provides funding for tuition fees, a stipend and laboratory expenses for both Home/*International applicants. 

The MRC DTP in Precision Medicine grant provides tuition fees and stipend of at least £18,622 (UKRI rate 2023/24).

*Due to a recent update in UKRI guidance, we are delighted that we will now be able to accept applications from international students, with them able to make up to 30% of our cohort each year.

To be classed as a home student, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be a UK National (meeting residency requirements), or

• Have settled status, or

• Have pre-settled status (meeting residency requirements), or

• Have indefinite leave to remain or enter

All other candidates will be classed as an International student.

All successful candidates (Home or International) will receive full tuition and stipend support.

Supporting documents
Please ensure the following supporting documents are uploaded at the point of application.

  • CV/Resume
  • Degree certificate (if you have graduated prior to 1 July 2023)
  • Academic transcript
  • Passport (a scan of the photo page)
  • Personal statement. State your motivation for selecting this programme and explain how completion of the programme will aid the development of your career. The statement should include information relating to research projects in which you have been involved, along with any other relevant information you wish to emphasise (previous academic, professional or voluntary experience, projects, placements, etc.). The statement should not be longer than one A4 page
  • Details of referee 1 (should be from an academic who has a knowledge of your academic ability from your most recent study/programme)
  • Details of referee 2 (should be from an academic who has a knowledge of your academic ability)

English language proficiency
All non-UK candidates whose first language is not English must provide a certificate of proficiency in the English Language before they are able to matriculate at the University of Glasgow: https://www.gla.ac.uk/international/englishlanguage/requirements/ (details in the section: College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences). Note: it is only necessary to provide evidence of English language proficiency if you are offered a place on the Programme, in order to meet University of Glasgow matriculation requirements. Evidence of English language proficiency is not required at the point of application.
