Research Summary
This research examines the writing of the composer John Cage from the early lectures and prose (1927 -1960s) to the experimental poetry, texts, and performances he produced from the 1970s. It contextualises Cage’s writing in terms of its relationship with his other creative endeavours and situates his post-1970 literary practice in the context of his own work and contemporary literature.
