Postgraduate research students

Lixin is a PGR at the University of Glasgow, researching teacher professional learning through participation in research–practice partnerships. Alongside his doctoral studies, Lixin works as a Communications Assistant with the Centre for Transformative Change in Schools.

Lixin’s research is deeply informed by his three years of experience teaching English to Uyghur students in Xinjiang. Working in a multilingual classroom gave Lixin a grounded understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and teacher learning. Living and working within a marginalized community also shaped the critical perspective he brings to educational research.

The values that guided Lixin’s teaching continue to shape who he is as a researcher. Just as Lixin encouraged his students to appreciate cultural diversity, recognize their strengths, and express their creativity, he approaches research with the same asset-based outlook. Ultimately, Lixin hopes his work can empower teachers and students from marginalized backgrounds while helping to bridge the gap between educational theory and classroom practice.
