Research title: Childhoodnature: Picturebooks and Film

Research Summary

My research objective is to explore the interconnectedness between children and the natural world through children’s engagement with visual texts, including picturebooks and animated film. I am interested in:

- How selected texts present the interconnection between humans, nonhuman animals and plants.

- How these texts preserve the integrity of nonhuman animals and plants.

- The significance of these texts as aesthetic and material artefacts.

- How children’s engagement with these texts might cultivate their relationship with the natural world, and enable them to navigate eco-anxiety.
