Research title: Space weathering of carbonaceous asteroids
Research Summary
My research is fouced on the study of carbonaceous CM chondrites (a class of meteorite) to try to understand the formation and evolution of their parent asteroids.
I use 2D imaging techniques such as, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectrocopy (EDS) alongside 3D techniques such as, x-ray computed tomography (XCT) to investigate chondrules, the primary consituents of the chondritic meteorites. Through improving our understanding of these objects and their characteristics I hope to better understand the deformation processes occuring on the parent asteroid and the CM chondrites may be linked to other chondritic meteorites.
