Prof Dame Anna Dominiczak appointed MRC Health Innovation Champion

Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Vice Principal and Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) has been appointed as Medical Research Council (MRC) Heath Innovation Champion.

The post is part time, involving half a day per week, and is in addition to Professor Dominiczak’s existing responsibilities, leadership role within the University and College and position as Regius Professor of Medicine.

Fiona Watt, Executive Chair of the MRC, said: “I am delighted to announce that Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak has been appointed as MRC Heath Innovation Champion, on secondment from the University of Glasgow. This is a new senior role within the MRC and will enable us to work more effectively with commercial partners – large and small – to deliver on our mission of encouraging and supporting research to improve human health.

“Amongst her many honours, Prof Dominiczak was awarded a DBE for services to cardiovascular and medical science. She has served extensively on national and international research committees and advisory boards, including the MRC’s Translational Research Group.”

Prof Dame Anna Dominiczak said: “I am delighted to be chosen for this senior role within the MRC. The MRC supports some of the world’s most important research and is dedicated to improving health through innovation. I look forward to playing a part in that and sharing my expertise, and that of the University of Glasgow, as we work together to drive health innovation.”
