Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, comments on today's Scottish budget.

Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Glasgow said: "Whilst recognising that any budget cut is a challenge we welcome the strong commitment that the Scottish Government has continued to show in Higher Education - both as an end in itself and as a key driver of the Scottish economy. The University of Glasgow delivers more than £1 billion to the Scottish economy, sustains 15,000 jobs and provides education for more than 27,000 students.

"The support of the Scottish Government in helping us to achieve our goals has been, and will continue to be, crucial.  We are also pleased to note that the budget statement points towards a longer term deal that will provide additional stability for the sector."
