Scottish Executive outlines future Scottish Curriculum

A seminar will be held at the University of Glasgow on 6 June 2005 to discuss 'A Curriculum for Excellence'

A seminar to discuss the Scottish Executive's plans for the future of Scottish education will be held on 6 June 2005 at the University of Glasgow. Speakers will include Professor Brian Boyd, University of Strathclyde, Ian Barr, DFID Consultant and Patricia Lennon, Head of School, Notre Dame High School.

In November 2004, the Scottish Executive published 'A Curriculum for Excellence' - by The Curriculum Review Group. It also provided 'A Curriculum for Excellence - Ministerial Response'. These documents are expected to be extremely influential in shaping the Scottish Curriculum over the next ten years or so.The seminar shall consider such questions as: What are the implications of the Executive's policy for schools? Is it 'A Curriculum for Excellence'? Does it have a global dimension?

The seminar will take place in Room 237 in the St Andrews Building, University of Glasgow, and will run from 5.30pm to 7pm. The seminar will be free and open to the public. There will be a 30 minute discussion at the end of the seminar for questions.
