Nexxus, the West of Scotland Bioscience Network, examine the role of inflammation and anti-inflammatory drugs play in rheumatoid arthritis

A fourth event in the popular Horizons in Biomedical Series entitled 'The 'Nexxt' Big Thing in Inflammation' will be held on the evening of 16 February 2005 at the Glasgow Science Centre at Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

The event, which will focus on the role which inflammation and anti-inflammatory drugs play in rheumatoid arthritis and also in disorders of the smaller blood vessels, is organised by Nexxus, the West of Scotland Bioscience Network, and features a variety of speakers.

After a welcome from Professor Roger Sturrock, McLeod/ARC Professor of Rheumatology, University of Glasgow, the first speaker, Dr Navaad Sattar, Reader in Endocrinology and Metabolism, University of Glasgow and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Biochemistry, Glasgow Royal Infirmary will explore the contribution of low and high-grade inflammation to cardiovascular risk. #

Professor John Campbell Lockhart, Professor of Physiology, University of Paisley and Honorary Research Fellow, Department of Medicine, University of Glasgow will then discuss PAR-2 in arthritis.
