The creator of the highly successful Channel 4 series, The Book Group, will deliver her first and only talk about the programme

Annie Griffin, writer/director of the critically acclaimed drama, The Book Group, will return to the University of Glasgow's Department of Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) to deliver her first and only public talk about where the programme came from and how it was made. An enthusiastic adult learner, Annie has attended a number of DACE classes that have inspired her work.

One of the Spanish classes Annie attended was given by DACE lecturer, Liam Kane, who was later convinced to make a guest appearance in the Programme. Liam played the role of a bi-lingual, guitar-playing football manager in the second series of The Book Group set in Spain.

The Book Group is about Claire, a neurotic American who moves to Glasgow and starts a book group to meet new, interesting people. But Kenny, Dirka, Rab, Fist and Janice turn out to be rather more interesting than she bargained for...

Annie Griffin will be speaking at the University of Glasgow on Friday November 28th at 6pm in the St Andrew's Building. Anyone is welcome to attend and entrance is free.
