The Music in the University series begins this term in earnest with three concerts happening this week - Thursday lunchtime, Thursday evening and Friday evening.

Today at 1.10pm in the University Concert Hall, Regal Brass presents a concert programme ranging from Bach to Maxwell Geddes. As with all lunchtime concerts at the University, admission is free ヨ facilitated by the continued support of the Ferguson Bequest.

The Dunedin Consort return this evening to the Univeristy Chapel, 7.30pm, for their second of four concerts this academic year, presenting a concert of music and poetry entitled Death Of a Hero King: Robert The Bruce. This stunning programme, devised by Jamie Reid Baxter, celebrates the life of one of Scotland's most famous kings. Ticket pries range from £11 (£7 concession) to £3 for students on the day. Advance ticket reservation is available by ringing the Dunedin Consort on 0131 228 3410.

On Friday evening, the University Chapel provides the venue for a live recording by the BBC, in a concert programme of Handel and Mozart, featuring, among others, the Head of the Music Department at the University, Prof. John Butt. The concert recording begins at 6pm exactly. This concert is free admission to the public, but please note that latecomers will not be admitted. This concert is being recorded live for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at 1pm on the 21 February 2003.
