Honours for politicians, musicians, office bearers and artists

As part of continuing celebrations to mark its eleventh jubilee, the University of Glasgow is awarding honorary degrees on Tuesday 16 October to twenty six people of national and international significance.

As part of continuing celebrations to mark its eleventh jubilee, the University of Glasgow is awarding honorary degrees on Tuesday 16 October to twenty six people of national and international significance. The ceremony will continue a University tradition of awarding honorary degrees to a larger number of people during jubilee years.

The University marks its links with Glasgow with honours for office bearers in the institutions of the city as well as those who have contributed to contemporary life in the arts, education, business, science and culture.

The full list of honorary graduands follows:

Professor Elizabeth Moignard, Professor of Classical Art and Archaeology, will present the following persons for the Honorary Degrees shown:

RICHARD ARMSTRONG, Music Director, Scottish Opera, for the Degree of Doctor of Music

ELIZABETH VIOLET BLACKADDER, Her Majesty's Painter and Limner, for the Degree of Doctor of Letters

JOHN BYRNE, Dramatist, for the Degree of Doctor of Letters

MAGNUS DUNCAN LINKLATER, Journalist, for the Degree of Doctor of Letters
