Each month our dedicated Reslife team hosts a vibrant calendar of free events on campus for students living in the hall. From cosy movie nights, lively game nights, engaging socials, and relaxed craft sessions, there are activities for everyone to enjoy. If you’re looking for a change of scenery, our ticketed Reslife Adventure trips are a fantastic opportunity to visit bucket-list locations around Scotland.

 

January events

 

Craft Club: friendship jewellery

Join us on the 14th of January at 7PM in Room 430, JMS, for our friendship jewellery event! Unleash your creativity and craft beautiful friendship jewellery using vibrant threads and beads. Whether you're creating a unique piece for yourself or crafting a heartfelt gift for a friend, this is the perfect opportunity to express yourself. With Valentine's Day around the corner, seize the chance to make something memorable for a hall mate or someone dear to you, or simply take some time for yourself to enjoy crafting among good company.

 

Live online cooking class: chickpea curry

Mark your calendar for a culinary treat! Join our live online cooking class on Sunday, 21st February from 4PM-6PM and learn to master the scrumptious Chickpea Curry. Connect with fellow food enthusiasts on MS Teams and let our Reslife chef guide you through crafting this flavourful dish. Reslife Adventure: V&A Dundee

Embark on an unforgettable day trip on Sunday, 28th January, at 9AM from University Avenue to the vibrant city of Dundee and immerse yourself in the world of design at the renowned V&A Dundee – Scotland's captivating design museum! Join us for an enriching journey through creativity and innovation as we explore fascinating exhibitions, iconic architecture, and the cultural heritage of Scotland. Tickets are just £25 and include hassle-free private coach travel from University Avenue to Dundee and back. Around the world potluck

  • Date: Wednesday, 14th February
  • Time: 7PM
  • Location: JMS 733, James McCune Smith Building

Join us on Wednesday, 14th February at 7 PM in 773 JMS for our Around the World Potluck event. Bring along a dish of food to share from your home country or your favorite cuisine and savour delicious food prepared by your hall mates. This food-swapping dinner party is the perfect way to make friends, share recipes and cooking techniques, and learn about different cuisines and cultures. Don't forget to bring a plate and cutlery so you can sample all of the tasty delicacies on offer!

 

Reslife Adventure: Scotland's Highland Wildlife Park

  • Date: Sunday, 25th February
  • Time: 9am to 4:30pm (approx)
  • Pick up point: Main Gates, University Avenue
  • Tickets: £35 including return travel, park entry, and animal education session
  • Booking: Ticket link, payment deadline Friday, 9th February

Prepare for an incredible adventure on Sunday, 25th February, departing at 9 AM from University Avenue to explore the Highland Wildlife Park! Set in a stunning rural landscape spanning 105 hectares, the park is home to a diverse range of animals including snow leopards, wolves, Scottish wildcats, and an adorable polar bear cub born last year, to name a few. The trip is a fantastic opportunity to take part in an engaging animal education session and learn all about the wildlife and the extraordinary conservation efforts of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. Tickets cover hassle-free return private coach travel from University Avenue, park entry, and the animal education session.

 

March events

 

Student Support Officer drop-in

  • Date: Tuesday, 12th March
  • Time: 2-4PM
  • Location: Student Apartments Office

Drop in to the Student Apartments Office any time from 2-4PM on Tuesday, 12th March, and meet the Reslife Student Support Officers Arlene and Sam. They'll be sharing information about what the Student Support Officers (SSOs) do and you can ask questions about a range of topics, including finance, study support, health and wellbeing, accessing specialist university services, and careers.

 

Craft club: origami

  • Date: Thursday, 14th March
  • Time: 7PM
  • Location: JMS 733, James McCune Smith Building

Join us on Thursday, 14th March, at 7PM in 733 JMS and dive into the world of origami and paper crafts. Whether you're a beginner or an origami enthusiast, this is your opportunity to get together with other students and create beautiful paper creations in a relaxed and friendly environment.

 

Reslife Adventure: Loch Lomond Shores

  • Date: Sunday, 17th March
  • Time: 9AM to 4:30PM (approx)
  • Pick up point: Main Gates, University Avenue
  • Tickets: £25 including return travel
  • Booking: Ticket link, payment deadline Monday, 4th March

Renowned for its beaches, woodland, wildlife, and breath-taking views, Loch Lomond is a picture-perfect place to spend the day. We’ll arrive at Lomond Shores, a fantastic hub on the edge of the water with boutique shops, quaint cafes, tourist information, and brilliant attractions including an aquarium and bird of prey centre. We're also excited to visit their Farmer's Market, boasting stalls with fresh produce, jewellery, handmade gifts, crafts, as well as delicious hot food vendors.
