Semester 2

Each month our dedicated Reslife team hosts a vibrant calendar of free on-site events for students living in the hall. From insightful workshops on the first of the month, lively game nights on the 7th, engaging socials on the 14th, and relaxed craft sessions on the 21st, there are activities for everyone to enjoy. If you’re looking for a change of scenery, our ticketed Reslife Adventure trips are a fantastic opportunity to visit bucket-list locations around Scotland.

 

January events

 

Wolfson Hall Hide & Seek

Ready or not, here we come! Join us on Sunday, 14th January, at 8 PM in the Common Room for the ultimate game of hide and seek! Wolfson Hall is a labyrinth of corridors and rooms, making it the perfect playground for sneaking, strategising, and seeking out your pals. Don’t miss out on this thrilling and hilarious adventure. Craft Club: friendship jewellery

Workshop: study planning & time management

Gear up for the semester by drafting a solid study plan at our workshop on Thursday, 1st February at 8PM in the Common Room. Get organised, learn to map out crucial deadlines, devise effective coursework plans, and embrace time management techniques for more efficient and stress-free studying. This workshop will equip you with essential study strategies and time management hacks in a supportive environment so you can feel better prepared and hand in your assignments without the eleventh-hour panic. Game night: table tennis tournament

Get ready for an epic showdown at our Table Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, 7th February at 7PM in the Amenities Block (TBC)! Show off your ping-pong prowess and compete for the title, bragging rights, and a voucher. But that's not all – the winner will represent our hall at the rescheduled inter-halls table tennis tournament, where we'll determine which hall is ultimate champion. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a casual player, all residents are welcome to join in the fun. It's your chance to showcase your skills and be part of our hall's bid for victory! Bring your A-game, we’ll see you there!

 

Social: self-care movie night

Join us for a special Valentine's Day treat at our self-care movie night on Wednesday, 14th February, starting at 8PM in the Common Room! This evening is all about celebrating self-love and relaxation, with pamper goodies, feel-good films, mocktails, sweets, and classic cinema snacks. Put on something cosy and comfortable, round up your hall besties, and enjoy an evening dedicated to you! We’ll have some self-care treatments for you to try, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you’d prefer - this is the perfect opportunity to put those Christmas gift sets to good use! Let's make this a super wholesome Valentine’s Day! 

 

Craft club: pottery making

Join us on the 21st of February at 8PM in the Dining Hall for our monthly Craft Club. This month we’ll be getting our hands dirty crafting small pottery pieces, which we’ll paint at our next craft session. As always, no experience is necessary to take part and you can either come prepared with your own idea or pick from a choice of examples on the day. Our craft club is a fun and welcoming environment for everyone, so get ready to mold and shape clay into unique creations and discover the joy of pottery together!

 

Reslife Adventure: Scotland's Highland Wildlife Park

  • Date: Sunday, 25th February
  • Time: 9am to 4:30pm (approx)
  • Pick up point: Main Gates, University Avenue
  • Tickets: £35 including return travel, park entry, and animal education session
  • Booking: Ticket link, payment deadline Friday, 9th February

Prepare for an incredible adventure on Sunday, 25th February, departing at 9 AM from University Avenue to explore the Highland Wildlife Park! Set in a stunning rural landscape spanning 105 hectares, the park is home to a diverse range of animals including snow leopards, wolves, Scottish wildcats, and an adorable polar bear cub born last year, to name a few. The trip is a fantastic opportunity to take part in an engaging animal education session and learn all about the wildlife and the extraordinary conservation efforts of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. Tickets cover hassle-free return private coach travel from University Avenue, park entry, and the animal education session.

 

March events

 

Group study session

  • Date: Friday, 1st March
  • Time: 8PM
  • Location: Common Room

If you have deadlines looming or want to get a head start on your work for next week, this session is for you! Come along to the Common Room on Friday, 1st March at 8pm and tick off some of your to do list before the weekend begins. We'll use the pomodoro method with set periods of study and breaks to focus and get the most out of our time.

 

Student Support Officer  drop-in

  • Date: Wednesday, 6th March
  • Time: 10AM - 12PM
  • Location: Common Room

Drop in to the Wolfson Hall Common Room any time from 10AM - 12PM on Wednesday, 6th March, and meet the Reslife Student Support Officers Arlene and Sam. They'll be sharing information about what the Student Support Officers (SSOs) do and you can ask questions about a range of topics, including finance, study support, health and wellbeing, accessing specialist university services, and careers.

 

Game night

Reslife Adventure: Loch Lomond Shores

  • Date: Sunday, 17th March

Renowned for its beaches, woodland, wildlife, and breath-taking views, Loch Lomond is a picture-perfect place to spend the day. We’ll arrive at Lomond Shores, a fantastic hub on the edge of the water with boutique shops, quaint cafes, tourist information, and brilliant attractions including an aquarium and bird of prey centre. We're also excited to visit their Farmer's Market, boasting stalls with fresh produce, jewellery, handmade gifts, crafts, as well as delicious hot food vendors. 

 

Craft club: pottery painting

  • Date: Thursday, 21st March
  • Time: 8PM
  • Location: Dining Hall

After a brilliant session in February sculpting wonderful clay creations, it's finally time to bring them to life! Come along to the Dining Hall on Thursday, 21st March, and finish off your pottery pieces with acrylic paint. If you weren't able to make the last session, feel free to bring your own paintable pottery or you can get involved by painting onto paper.
