Every year, from 25 November to 10 December, the world unites for 16 Days of Activism — a global movement led by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to end violence against women and girls.
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) will lead a programme of events and activities as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – a global campaign calling for action to end gender-based violence in all its forms.
This year, the SRC’s theme is Accountability and Action, building on previous year’s Together Against GBV work to focus on how we can all play a role in creating safer, more respectful communities.
Students, colleagues and societies are encouraged to take part in the events and discussions taking place across campus.
SRC Key Events
- Protest Placard Workshop – Tuesday 25 November, Gilchrist Postgraduate Club, 6pm
Join the SRC and the UofG Feminist Society Collab for a creative session preparing placards and banners ahead of the Fight for the Night march.
- Fight for the Night March – Thursday 27 November, 5:30pm
Meet at the University Memorial Gates at 5:30 pm to march through Glasgow city centre alongside students from across the city, standing in solidarity with survivors and demanding safer streets for all.
- GBV Vigil – Monday 8 December, University Chapel, 6pm
A reflective event to honour victims and survivors of gender-based violence, hosted in partnership with the University Chaplaincy.
Throughout the 16 Days, the SRC will also be sharing stories from students, societies, and partners highlighting collective action against gender-based violence – both on campus and beyond.
