Published: 12 December 2023

Find out more about the new innovative bike hangars on campus.

Are you ready to shift gears on your daily commute? The University of Glasgow is rolling out an exciting new feature on the Gilmorehill campus — nine innovative bike hangars, known as FalcoPods. This initiative is part of the University's continued efforts to champion sustainable and active travel, adding convenience and security for our active travellers.

FalcoPods offer secure, app-operated bicycle parking facilities. Whether you're a colleague or student, they are free to use, all you need to do is register for access.

 Current Locations of Bike Hangars:

  • Behind the Graham Kerr Building
  • At the Sir Graeme Davies Building
  • In front at the Bower Building
  • At Thomson Building
  • At the South Front service lane
  • At James Watt South Building

Each FalcoPod has the capacity to accommodate six bicycles and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. To use these hangars, colleagues and students need to download the 'okey - Smart Access Solutions' app and register following the steps on the webpage.

A helpful instructional video is available on the webpage, providing clear instructions on the use of the hangars' locking mechanism.

Beyond the bike hangars, the University of Glasgow offers a range of facilities and initiatives to support active travel. Detailed information about on-campus showers, lockers, upcoming sustainable travel events, the University’s strategic travel policy, and advice on public transport, cycling, and walking to campus can be found on the University’s website.
