UKRI has been subject to a 48% cut to its 2021-22 committed expenditure budget.

The calls below have been cancelled:

• GCRF Challenge Clusters programme (Round Two)
• UKRI GCRF Collective Programme - Cultures, Behaviours and Histories of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition (outcomes had been communicated but any awards have now been cancelled).

The below Medical Research Council call has been suspended:

• Applied Global Health Board grants (Round Three)

NIHR has been subject to a 28% cut to its ODA research budget.

The Royal Society will not be funding any new ODA-funded grants in the coming year. Its ODA research budget has been reduced by 68%.

The Royal Academy of Engineering is working on the implications of ODA cuts to its research programme.

The Academy of Medical Sciences has confirmed that current grants will continue but it’s unlikely there will be any new future calls.

The British Academy has confirmed that existing grants will not be terminated or reduced but they will not be making any new ODA research awards in 2021-22. Their ODA research budget has been cut by over 70%.

All information for the KTN, African agriculture knowledge transfer partnerships (KTP): 2020 to 2021, round 5 has been removed from the KTN website of Innovate UK. While nothing definitive has been posted, this suggests this call has been cancelled.

The British Council will not be running any Newton Fund calls for the coming year and is working through the impacts of ODA research cuts. Their budget has been reduced by 66%.

The UK Space Agency will not be running any of their 2020 projects past this initial stage, nor will it be running new calls in 2021-22 for its international partnership programme.

The below calls funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office have been cancelled:

• The Tropical Health And Education Trust (THET) UK Partnerships for Health Systems Programme has been cancelled.
